RE: Dental Work in Mexico

When you walk across the Border into Algodones, stop at the first four corners you come to. Turn left at the four way corners and walk about 100 steps towards the West. Stop and look across the street to see The Oasis Drug Store. Cross the street and at the Drug Store Oasis ask for Juan. He speaks English and Spanish and acts as Agent for you. He has Optician and Dentistry right alongside the Pharmacy. Dr. Luis Villagran, DDS, is our Dentist. See above posting. See Juan. Good Luck

RE: Dental Work in Mexico

There is a small and perhaps primative camp ground near the indian Parking lot. I don't know the name but maybe someone else knows. We stayed in yuma lakes and it is only a bit of a drive across I8 and then down to Algodones. Dr. Luis Villagran DDS did a wonderful job for both of us and was very reasonably priced. 3 Crowns 2 cleanings for under $450.00. I am still searching for the English speaking contact man who also operates a Pharmacy and Opticians office, as well as the Dentistry office. If I can find his info I will post it for you. Good Luck

RE: What do you do when you don't have a physical address?

When we sold our last home and the motor home became our home, we contracted with the Good Sam Mail Service. They supply us with an official street address for legal residence purpose which is the address we use for voting, drivers licenses, taxes and banking. They also supply us with a Personal Mail Box which is our official Post Office Mailing Address. When we want mail, we call and they send us our mail, by least expensive method which is usually UPS Parcel Delivery. Hope this helps you with your problem.

RE: Cedar Ridge Campground in Folkston, GA

Folkston, GA, Home of The Folkston Funnel, a railroad buffs vallhalla!! Folkston has the distiction of having a major North South Railroad Track that is busy, busy! There is an observation deck where folks can set and watch the trains go by. There is a speaker system in the observation platform that is tuned to the RailRoad Radio system and one can listen to the trains talking with the Dispatcher and other trains. While in Folkston, visit the Chamber of Commerce in the former Rail Station and on Main Street and 301 be sure to visit the Buffet Place. Can't remember the name of the place but the food is terrific. All Buffett, All the time. We enjoyed our visit last year but had to go to a campground way out of town. Glad to hear there is a PassPort America Campground there. Will plan a stop there this coming Spring when we head North!!!!

RE: Maine / New Hampshire Coast Campers.... Help....

Clam Boils, especially those from the New Bedford, MA Area are excellent faire and usually consist of: Steamer Clams (Soft Shell Clams, NOT Hard Shell Clams which are more properly called Quahogs, which include Little Necks, Count Necks, Cherry Stones, Stuffers, Bulls and Chowders.) Onions White or Red Potato's Fish, Wrapped in Paper so as to kept it together. Hot Dog Sausage Linguica and/or Cherico (If the "Boil" is served Portugese Style) Sweet Corn Sometimes Lobster This method of cookery is usually 'made up', cooked and served in the throw-away Aluminum Pans you might use to cook a small Turkey in. The pan is loaded, then sealed with aluminum foil over the top and then several are put into a Steamer, the hot steam is turned on and the "Boil" is cooked. Release the steam, serve with beer or any beverage of your choice. The Old Fashioned New England Clam Bake has the same ingredients but is 'built' over a pit that is lined with stones. A wood fire is built on the stones early on the morning of the "bake". The fire is allowed to burn down to coals and the pit is then raked to clean the coals off the stones, which have absorbed a load of the heat. The pit is then lined with sea weed, the clams, in baskets or nylon mesh bags are stacked on the sea weed, the rest of the ingrediants are put into the pit with the Lobsters going on the top. The "Bake master" supervises the building of the bake and runs the crew that eventually spreads wet canvass over the top of the food, to seal in the heat and steam. The Clam BAKE then sets there and BAKES for a long enough time to cook everything. Others are opening Hard Shells or Quahogs, (Count Neck or Little Neck sized), on the Half Shell, set on crushed ice to keep em cold, others are building a Quahog Chowder. The Little Necks are placed near the Bar so one can wash em down with your favorite beverage. Everyone then sets down at the long picknick tables, covered in Newspapers to absorb the juices, the Chowder is served and the BakeMaster gives the orders to uncover the bake. The steam coming off the pit calls everyone's appatite to attention, the Bake Master supervises the distribution of the bake contents, which are distributed amongst the tables and everyone has a good feed. After the goodies are all served and ate up, the tables are cleared and trays of iced watermelon are severed to all. Eat Hearty and Give a rowsing Cheer for The Bake Master and All the Crew that did the work!!!!

RE: Door Awning

We have an AE Weather Pro and the little awning over the door has a nice manual twist handle to manualy crank it in or out. It usually works ok on electric but occasionally takes a fit and will not bring the awning all the way in. I just get out the crank and crank 'er in!!!!!

RE: To Protect & SERVE

We had a blow out in heavy after football traffic on I 65 just South of Birmingham, AL. I was just barely off the hard pavement and my first call was to 911. I needed a Patrol Car to have his lights on as protection from the heavy traffic. My second call was to Good Sam ERS. The Officer that responded was from the Town of Homewood and he gave me an ESCORT, at 10 MPH on the blowout, the few miles down the expressway to the nearest exit and guided us to a safe spot in a big parking lot. Made us feel welcome to stay there all night if we so desired. It was a Saturday evening, around 6:00 PM by the time I called Good Sam for an update on how they were doing to get a tire changer for us. No luck on finding anyone so I called the Homewood PD on their business line and the Dispatcher lined up someone in just a few minutes. The guy was with us with in a half hour, changed the blown tire out with our spare and we were back in travel condition. We spent the night in that parking lot and continued on the next morning. Having served in Emeregency Services (Fire Dept), I would never hesitate to use 911 if we were in an Emergency Situation such as creating an Hazard close to the heavy traffic on an Interstate Highway which exposed everyone to danger. Lot better to call 911 first to avoid trouble than to not and get into worst trouble!!!

Indian River RV Service

A while back I saw a post about Indian River RV Service at 1698 N. Central Ave in Sebastian, FL and the entries were complimentery as to their service and friendliness and general good work. We were up in Georgia or South Carolina at the time and I started thinking about maybe stopping in Sebastian to see if Indian River could help us with a couple of long time problems we have been living with for several months. #1. We had an intermittant problem with the operation of our HWH Leveling System. Estimates had been given from a low of "A couple hundred dollars" to "At least Four Hundred to replace relays and other parts". Indian River replaced the Pressure Regulator and the System works as it should. Parts, $60.00, Labor $65.00. #2 I have been fighting a water leak in the area of the Water Pump for about a year. It would come and go, sometimes dripping a half bucket in a 24 hour period. I tightened clamps, replaced tubing, went beyond my limited capabilities and still had that darn leak. Technican John Michaud mentioned that;"You have a little water leak. Would you want us to fix it?" I replied that "I sure wish someone would make it go away." One Clamp and $16.00 Labor and the water compartment is drying up nicely, Thank You. These were only a couple of the several things that needed doing and we are very pleased to tell you all how happy we are that someone posted about Indian River RV Service at 772,581,1677. The Service Manager Danne Herlan came out of his office, into the parking lot, to greet us when we first drove in and we were overjoyed to meet Chris Hall, the President of the company, and I must say, a very pleasant person to talk with. She and her husband, Harold Hall own and operate the Service and Supply Company in Sebastian. While our coach was having it's evaluation, I sat outside the RV Supply store and chit chatted with others who were there for Service, and some of the drive in customers, there to buy supply's at their well stocked RV Supply Store. Everyone was most complimentary of this place. Needless to say, We are Happy Campers, having had the chance to go there for Service work, and want to Thank the Folks on this Board who were posting about this place. Someone previously posted something to the effect of "Don't tell folks about Indian River RV cause they could get to busy to take care of "The Locals"." All I can say is that from what I experienced there, they have the work force and trained personnell to handle perhaps an 100% increase in customers, so if you are in the Area and need Service, give Indian River a shot. I think you will be glad you did.

RE: Watch carefully which CG you stay at in Tennessee

IF, that little word that means so much, IF you had presented the full incident then the only remark I would make is, why didn't you call 911 or at least the CG Security right away???? When we know the full picture even I cannot question your departure but again, they are still there, awaiting the 'next time'. We all need to watch out for each other, take care of those in need and report to the authorities those who do not follow the rules. Good Luck, GBY

RE: Watch carefully which CG you stay at in Tennessee

Saw an interesting billboard the other day. Said,"Jesus would not discriminate"!!!!!! Are there any of you amongst us who would walk over and strike up a conversation with 'fellow' campers?? I have and it has led to several interesting conversations and a few 'conversions'. Nothing like bringing a fellow traveler to The Lord in any setting, whether in a fancy place or out in a Campground. Let us go out and spread the "Good News" instead of cutting people up because they are not at your level. God Loves Us ALL!!!!

RE: Low voltage at the CG...what do you do?

I am not an Electrician so my reply is based only on my limited experiences in life, thus far accomplished. You have, I think, a 30 Amp service in your Class C Coach, so you are familiar with the needs of the right cord for your unit. You should do as the previous poster suggests, clean the plug ends. I don't know what else you may have on that would load your electric system, like Battery Chargers or Micro wave Oven or Electric water heater. All electric items use their 'little bit' of juice and soon something has to be taken off the line to keep the Voltage up. We have a 50 amp coach which is also capable of running on 30 Amps if that is what is available. On 50 Amps we can run the entire coach, no sweat, but on 30 Amps we have to monitor our use to maintain the proper flow of juice. Take your Meter and go outside to other close Electric Pedestals and see what the readings are around you. It could be that the Park is running heavy use and all are low, or, it could just be you. Good Luck

RE: What's with Directv?

In regards to the above statement as to why use directv or other supplier cause the parks supply cable....We are Baseball fans and without the Sat. could not recieve the games we want to watch as they are not on cable outside of New England. We get them off the Satelitte through Directv Sports Package and the MLB Baseball Package. Go Red Sox!!!!!

RE: how early is to early

If we were going to leave before the end of QUIET TIME we would do all of our prep work the day before, including charging the air system. In the early hours I disconnect the Electric Cord and crank the engine and move slowly out of the Park, stopping before going on the road to hook up the toad. Done this three times in four years. RE: Internet Service for Fulltimers

We chose the Verizon air Card for our Service. It works well for our use which is Family Communications and E-mail to Friends. We also have an serious addiction to several Internet Forums which we are active in reading and contributing to as applicabile. We belong to TT/ODW and pay our dues and use the system to provide our sites and services. I am firmly against the supply of Wi-fi or any other Internet Service to members on a free basis. It is beyond my understanding where any member has a 'right' to expect a free service internet access. It is my belief that if a member wants Internet Access then the individual member should expect to pay for it. I expect and want my dues fees to go towards the upkeep of the preserves. Not the supply of Wi-Fi Service to anyone. This is just my 2 cents worth
